Successful stack funding to seize the momentum for industrial 3D printing

GS Technology is entering the world of industrial 3D printing. From idea and concept to printing itself, the young company guides companies through every step of innovative technology. The most promising Antwerp SME of the year is ready to conquer the rest of the world too.

Challenge:

Many companies think that a 3D printer only rolls out gadgets, or at most a prototype of a real product. GS Technology convinces companies of the enormous potential of industrial 3D printing and unburdens them from A to Z. It's going fast for the young company: it was voted promising SME of the Year in the province of Antwerp by Unizo and new customers are lining up. To seize that momentum, GS Technology looked for funding.

Approach:

The first step in the strategy was a crowlending campaign via WinWinner's platform. That campaign raised 250,000 euros. ‍ After that, two investors participated in GS Technology's capital. The SME deliberately looked for smart money. The investors bring a lot of entrepreneurial experience and bring in new leads from their own network.

The successful crowdlending campaign and the capital increase convinced the bank, on the one hand, to grant 150,000 EUR in leases and, on the other hand, PMV to grant a loan of 150,000 EUR. For example, GS Technology did not have to cough up the investment in new 3D printers and vans all at once, but can lease them and repay them in smaller amounts each month. PMV gave the green light for a loan of 150,000 euros. In addition, the bank and PMV also promised future loans if GS Technology reached certain revenue targets. The company is perfectly on track for those additional loans.

Result:

GS Technology seized the momentum and is armed for an acceleration in growth. The company expanded the team, invested in new equipment and also brought on board the first international customers. There is a solid business plan for the coming years and new funding is already in the pipeline.

“The Harbour understands and shares my ambitions with GS Technology. I'm obsessed with technology, but I'm not a numbers guy. The Harbour has succeeded in translating the ideas and plans that were in my head into a watertight business plan to convince investors.”
