500k to extend the life of e-bikes and e-scooters with a mobile repair service

You notice in the streets that e-bikes and e-steps are popular. But how can you extend the lifespan of those sustainable means of transport and thus reduce the electronic waste mountain? With a mobile repair service and a circular business model, StepFix is fully seizing the e-vehicle's momentum. Straight to the top, step by step.

Challenge:

The more e-bikes and e-scooters on the road, the more maintenance they require. But many devices come from China and many bicycle mechanics miss the experience or are overquestioned. Which in turn means that you often have to wait a long time for your e-vehicle to be repaired. StepFix has the know-how to repair most of these e-vehicles at owners' homes or offices. The service is fast, professional and it is therefore going fast for the young company. Micromobility is in full expansion and StepFix wants to be prepared for the expected growth. Through strong B2B partnerships, StepFix found their ideal go-to market. Now, the entrepreneur wants to further invest in sales and marketing, mobile repairers and operational capacity.

Approach:

The Harbour helped StepFix create a solid business plan. The ambitious growth plans were translated into a clear pitch and the financial projections tailored accordingly. It was soon clear that the company needed an investment of several business angels. After a tough search, we found it in The Harbour Smart Capital's network. The entry of the angels gave confidence to Loyal VC, an international fund where StepFix was part of a pilot project. The fund put a substantial sum on the table.

With this capital increase in its pocket, The Harbour was also able to convince PMV to co-finance.

Result:

Thanks to this funding mix StepFix can further invest in the development of a strong team and increase operational capacity with the summer in sight. But the ambitions go further. International growth is a logical continuation. The plans are ready and the next investment round will therefore not be long in coming.

“The time is now for e-bikes and e-scooters, so we wanted to quickly step up a gear. We are ambitious and that's when The Harbour's network comes in handy. They helped us with a strong business plan and a clear pitch, and thanks to an optimal funding mix, e-lectrity was quickly in the air.”
